On Campus

We’re about more than just academics at the University of New Haven. Visit the vibrant campus, and you’ll find a remarkable campus community and an activity for every interest.

From the more than 150 student organizations to the thousands of campus events held each year to the University’s competitive Division II athletics program – featuring teams perennially competing for championships – there are a multitude of activities to help you immerse yourself in Charger Nation and to enable you to take part in the complete University of New Haven experience.

Just ask the students. In the University of New Haven’s profile in The 2018 Princeton Review, a student said, “It is absolutely impossible to be bored, because there is always something to do.” Another student said, “Every student is involved.”

The life you lead outside of the classroom is just as vital to your college experience as your coursework – and studies have proven it. Even if you don’t live in one of our residence halls, there is so much for you to do outside of the classroom and in the surrounding communities that the University of New Haven will quickly become your second home. The Undergraduate Student Government Association and Graduate Student Council are available to advocate for you and to enrich your experience as a student. There is something for everyone. Off Campus

Situated on 82 acres atop a hill overlooking the New Haven skyline, with views of Long Island Sound, our residential campus is conveniently located a mile north of Interstate 95 between Boston (135 miles away) and New York City (75 miles away).

Our safe, secure campus community offers a wealth of world-class amenities, while, just outside our campus, West Haven – ranked as one of the safest college towns in the country by SafeWise – provides a true college-town feel, featuring parks, shops, recreational activities, and restaurants to explore. West Haven also boasts the longest coastline in Connecticut, putting you never more than steps away from some of the nicest beaches in the state.

Just 10 minutes away, New Haven is a thriving center for both industry and culture. With seven colleges and universities in the immediate area, it’s also a center for academic and technological innovation. Students and faculty come to New Haven from around the world to immerse themselves in this unparalleled intellectual environment.

In fact, Louis’ Lunch is the birthplace of the hamburger, and New Haven has been named among the best pizza towns in the country.
